Where I Set Up
My most recent setup is in the corner of our living room. I used folding tables to hold my laptop, printer/scanner/fax and my camera equipment. I've got a large square table for my working area, and a table set in front of a window with my light tent.
Why I Set Up Here
I used to have an entire room in the house for my beads, but after I had my son in 2008, that was turned into his bedroom! We do have a small office space in the basement, but I don't like the light down there and I can't really work when my son, who is now 2 1/2, wants to run up and down the stairs all day. The lighting in the living room is good, and I'm tucked away in the corner so the chaos of my work area won't be too noticeable.
Advice
- Find a place that is comfortable for you. Make sure you like the feeling of the space.
- You don't have to spend a ton of money on new furniture - my beading tables are folding tables from a department store.
- A comfortable chair and good lighting are a MUST for any beading area!
What Kind of Lighting Do You Use?
I use natural daylight that comes in through the windows where I am set up, and I also have a portable Ott Lite with a drop down magnifier.
What Kind of Chair Do You Use?
I have a comfortable office chair that I got from an office supply store. It doesn't have any arm rests where my thread might get tangled.
What Kind of Work Surface Do You Use?
I prefer to use the work pads from Designer's Findings set on the table. I love my Deluxe Bead Traveler because I can take it from room to room!
