Name of piece
Steampunk Garden Fairy Necklace
What techniques I used
This is one of my favorite Steampunk necklaces. It has my favorite flower colors: pink and green.
Steampunk Garden Fairy Necklace: 18 inches long plus three and one-half inch long pendant with dangles. (1) Cut four pieces of nine inch long chain. I used copper colored and brass colored chains. (2) Attach each of four ends to a large, split jump ring. Use 2 pairs of needle nose pliers to open and close chain links just like opening and closing jump rings. (3) Attach the other ends to jump rings and then to a toggle clasp or lobster clasp. (4) Use two headpins with basic loops to add to chain as desired and two head pins with ball ends and basic loops to add to the large double split ring. I enjoyed using bicone crystals, cat's eye glass beads, metal leaf beads, and tiny, green seed beads. (5) Attach watchworks to fairy pendant (I bought this one from DesignerKay) and add green & pink Swarovski flatback crystals (I use superglue). Use your imagination and be creative! Have fun!
Tips and Tricks
- Use 2 pairs of needle nose pliers to open and close chain links.
- Use headpins with a ball end to make dangles.
- I like lobster clasps because they are more secure than toggle clasps.
