By Paula S. Morgan, About.com

Here are some Top Pick Bead Videos including basic bead stitches, bead making loom weaving bead history and much more.

1. Artgem's "How To" Series

An outstanding selection of basic beading instruction titles. These videos are clear, easy to follow and contain a wealth of help for anyone looking to learn how to bead. Twelve titles in all, covering a wide range of beading techniques. This series should be first on your list and would make an excellent gift or investment for a new beader.

2. Bead at Home Video Series

A series of four beading videos including basic beading, making a Mother's Bracelet, making Beaded Watches and Watchbands and a beaded earrings/memory wire combination lesson.

3. How to Bead Native American Style

An outstanding series of bead videos including loom, Peyote Stitch (Native American style), Lane Stitch, Applique and Medallion Stitch. These videos are perfect for a beginning beader.

4. The Bead Movement

A wonderful documentary exploring beads throughout history including bead making and designing with beads. This video is a must have for any bead lover.

5. Bead Woven Necklaces

A classic by Virginia Blakelock. Learn all the loom basics including increasing, decreasing, finishing (all those ends!) and great fringe techniques. A must-have.

6. Bead Weaving - Peyote Stitch

This one started it all - at least the Amulet bag phenomenon. Get a full 1 1/2 hour with Carol Perrenoud as she teaches flat and tubular Peyote, including increasing, decreasing, adding threads, changing colors and much more. An absolute must.

7. Bead Embroidery Techniques

Covering a wide variety of stitches and projects, this is the perfect video for bead embroiderers. If you've ever wanted to explore the versatility of sewing beads to fabric, whether it be in canvas work, fringe, scatter beading or beaded images, this is the place to start.

8. Beadweaving: Herringbone Stitch

Herringbone Stitch is one of the fastest-growing bead stitches and with the delightful Carol Perrenoud's video instruction, you'll have it down in no time.

9. Bead Weaving featuring the Mirrix Lom

One of the finest looms I've seen is the Mirrix loom, it should follow that one of the finest bead loom videos would be the one made by the Mirrix inventor, Claudia Chase. I am pleased to say that this is, indeed, the case. Included are a bead soup bracelet, a beaded bag using a seed bead mix and a tapestry purse using a "cartoon". An excellent video production.
