Step Four - Make the Head and Attach the Two Halves

3-D Beaded Turtle Belly Graph

To make the head, start by threading through the 3 beads marked by red dots on the graph. Pick up 3 more beads and thread through the first three again to make a circle of 6. Use these beads as a base for tubular peyote and work an additional 5 rows. Go through the three beads in the last row twice to pull them together then add one more bead to the top bead of the three. Add it by picking it up, going through the bead you are attaching it to, going through the bead you added again (from the opposite side) and into the original bead again. Then go into the added bead again. Now go through the other two beads of the original 3 and through the added bead once more. Weave back into the belly of the turtle to secure and snip.

Now you need to attach the two halves of the turtle. Attach the dark green beads around the edge of the shell to the beads in the belly that are marked with yellow dots on the graph. Stitch them together as if you were doing square stitch, the thread path is the same.
