How to Cut Your Beading Thread

It might seem like a no-brainer, but depending on what type of thread you use for your beading project, you want to make sure that you use the correct type of cutter.

Embroidery scissors are great for cutting nylon beading threads like Nymo and Silamide. If you are using a fishing-line type thread like Fireline or Wildfire, you need something with a different type of blade – the embroidery scissors won’t leave a clean cut on the end of your thread, and this will make it more difficult to thread your needle and start beading.

Making clean cuts is also important when you are ending a thread in your beadwork. You don’t want to have any thread ends peeking out between the beads that might get caught on something or that can make the work look messy.
