It's time for the annual 2011 Readers' Choice Awards on About.com. This is the first year that the Beadwork site is participating, and nominations are being accepted in nine categories.
About.com's 2011 Readers' Choice Awards will showcase the best products, services and features in over 80 categories including hobbies, electronics and gadgets, sports, style, travel and more. Nominations will be accepted from January 13, 2011 until February 4, 2011 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
2011 Readers's Choice Awards Categories:
Best Beading Book
Your favorite beading book doesn't necessarily have to have been published in 2010. Is there a beading book that you discovered in the last year that has made a difference in how you look at and do beadwork? Please include at least the name and the author of the book you wish to nominate - if you can include the publisher, too, that would be helpful!
Best Bead Show
Bead shows are popping up all over the country, and all over the world. If there's a bead show that you never miss when it rolls into town every year, tell us about it. Please include the location of the show, including city, state and country (if outside of the U.S.).
Best Beading Magazine
Beading magazines inspire and educate. Did you discover a new favorite beading magazine this year? Please include the title and publisher.
Best Online Source for Seed Beads
It seems like the Web is full of places to by seed beads, but if there is one place in particular where you have found superb customer service, great prices and high quality seed beads, we want to know about it.
Best Online Source for Swarovski Crystals
Swarovski crystals have been a hot commodity in the last few years, and pretty much every bead store or online bead shop sells them. If you've found a supplier of Swarovski crystals that offers excellent prices, great customer service and a wide selection of items and colors, let us know about them.
Best Online Source for Vintage Beads
There's a certain charm about using vintage beads and findings in your beadwork. If you have a favorite online source for your vintage beads, nominate them for a Readers' Choice Award.
Best Online Source for Specialty Beads (not covered under other categories)
This category covers items and beads such as handmade beads, unique artist beads, embroidery supplies and findings and other specialty bead items used for beadwork and/or beadweaving.
Best Beading Teacher
Did you take a class with an exceptional teacher in 2010? Nominate your favorite beading teacher.
Best Bead Shop (not online)
This category is for local bead shops or brick and mortar bead shops, with or without an online presence. Bead shops nominated in this category can have an online shopping cart, but should be primarily an "in-person" bead shop. Note: please do not nominate chain stores such as Michael's, Hobby Lobby or other chain craft stores.
How to Nominate Your Beadwork Favorites
All the categories are listed on the nomination form, but you don't have to nominate something in every category. The form also asks for your name and email address, but it's okay if you want to remain anonymous.
