Easy Knitting with Beads - Beautiful Results
This review covers two different bead knitted jewelry kits from earthFaire, com; the Bead Stew Kit and the Bead Soup kit.The difference between the two kits is a matter of size. The "stew" kits use a #12 Kreinik brand metallic braid thread and larger beads including size 6/0 and size 8/0 round beads, plus a lovely collection of other larger beads. The Bead Soup kit uses a size #8 Kreinik metallic thread and slightly smaller beads, including bugle beads, Delica beads, smaller triangle beads and other smaller bead shapes. Both kits come with a wide variety of beads in stunning colorways.
The instructions for both kits are very clearly written, making it easy to understand how the knitting should look and how the beads should be positioned within the knitting to avoid problems and errors.
If you have never done knitting with beads before, I suggest starting with the Bead Stew kit and a size 0 or 1 wooden needle (not included with kits, but they are available for purchase on the site) and then go on to other kits from there.
These kits offer a rewarding and inexpensive way to learn how to knit with beads, and the kits are well worth the money. The finished bracelets are beautiful, they sit flat on the wrist and are full of sparkle. The kits would make a great gift for a beading friend, and would be a lot of fun for a bead group project.
Earth Faire has the finest customer service, excellent products, wonderful assistance and they are always happy to help new bead knitters along. Their prices may cause you a double take, they are that good. I highly recommend this beading kit.
