How to Read a Peyote Stitch Graph: Flat Odd Count Peyote Stitch

Look at the graph to determine your "inside" and "outside" rows. This will also help you figure out where you are if you lose your place while working the pattern.

Jennifer VanBenschoten
For flat odd-count peyote, there are rows that I like to call “outside” rows and rows that I like to call “inside” rows. The “outside” rows are illustrated by rows 2, 4 and 6 on the graph. These are rows where you will stitch beads on the very edge of the piece. These are also the rows where you will have to make some sort of turn to get back into position to add the next row.

The “inside” rows are illustrated by rows 1, 3 and 5 on the graph. These are rows where all the beads added nestle “inside” the other rows of beads.
