You can make this fun Antique Typewriter Key Beaded Initial Pendant for yourself with just a few basic beading supplies. Antique typewriter keys are available on auction sites. If you have an old typewriter, you can remove the keys and file the little nib off of the back or have someone with a grinder do it for you. You can also find old typewriters for sale a second hand, thrift and antique stores just about everywhere.

If obtaining and preparing your own typewriter key is not an option, you can get great reproductions of these keys. They're made by Westrim Crafts and should be available at most crafts supply stores. I've seen them a few times, but always in the scrapbook section, not in with the other beads. As for the other supplies, you probably already have most of them in your current bead stash. Here's what you'll need:

  • Antique Typewriter Key or Reproduction Typewriter Key
  • One hank-strand of size 11/0 Transparent Amber AB Czech seed beads
  • Approximately 120 Size 15/0 Bronze seed beads
  • Bead Backing by Bead-Patterns.com
  • Nymo thread size "D" dark brown
  • One side drilled pink or peach colored freshwater pearl, approximately 8mm X 18mm
  • One small flat-back bronze colored freshwater pearl, approximately 5mm X 5mm
  • One 4mm Bronze Matagama Drop Bead
  • Dark brown Ultrasuede scrap, 1 inch square
  • Dark brown permanent maker
  • Gem Tac- glue
