This beautiful combination of warm, rich, glowing amber and the cool, clear blue of turquoise are reminiscent of the desert sunrise or an ocean sunset. Here's what you'll need to make this beaded necklace for yourself:
  • 1 - 20mm Turquoise Nugget bead
  • 2 - 18mm amber beads
  • 74 - 8mm Turquoise Rondelles or Heishei Beads
  • 74 - 5mm Amber Nuggets
  • 18" of Soft-Touch brand beading wire
  • 1 - Gold Colored Fish hook Clasp
  • 2 - 8mm pieces of French Wire
  • 2 - Gold plated Twisted Tornado Crimp Beads
  • 1 - Bead Stopper
We will begin making the Sun and Sky Beaded Necklace by adding the large beads to the center of the necklace. Once we have the main beads on the wire, we will close off one end and add the smaller beads one side at a time, which is much easier than trying to add them to two wires at the same time, plus keep track of count. However, some beaders prefer to add to one side, then the other to maintain balance. If you prefer to bead this way, please do so.

1.) Begin by placing the 20mm turquoise bead in the center of the Soft Flex Beading Wire. Add a single small amber nugget to each side of the turquoise bead, then add a turquoise rondelle bead to each side.

2.) Next, add the large amber beads to each side of the necklace. If your amber beads are reconstituted like the ones pictured here, make sure that they are oriented the same way on each side of the necklace.

3.) Now place the Bead Stopper on one end of the Soft Flex wire, about two inches from the end of the wire. Beginning with a turquoise rondelle, begin adding the amber nuggets and the rondelles, alternating one amber and one turquoise each time, until you have added a total of 36 of each bead.

4.) Check the side of the necklace you just completed to make sure you have the beads separated correctly. Make sure that none of the amber nuggets have cracked or fallen off. If everything looks good, then place the Twisted Tornado crimp bead on to the wire on the side you just beaded. Follow it with the 8mm piece of French wire, then one half of the fish hook clasp. Pass the beading wire back through the Twisted Tornado crimp and then back through a couple of the amber and turquoise beads. Press the Twisted Tornado crimp closed, turn it over and press the other side. Trim the beading wire.

5.) Repeat from Step 3 above, omitting the Bead Stopper, since you have already finished the opposite side! Enjoy our bright and beautiful Sun and Sky Beaded necklace.
