Since the main point of the party is the beading, you'll likely want to keep the refreshments to a minimum.
- Serve a simple wine and cheese menu with fruit, crackers, chips and dip.
- If you want a bit more substantial fare, opt for sandiwhes or something from the Crock-Pot rather than messy finger-food that may get the beads or the table greasy.
- Make it a "High Tea" with plenty of tiny tea sandwiches, pastries, petit fours, cake and cookies served with tea, coffee and hot cider.
Some serving tips:
- Put refreshments out buffet-style so your guests can help themselves.
- Have backup platters in the kitchen so you don't have to interrupt the beading to prepare more food.
- Use a large coffee maker and keep an electric kettle full of tea water or use two large, urn-style coffeemakers, one for coffee, one for tea water.
- Most party rental places have coffeemakers, punch bowls for cider, large trays, tiered trays and other catering items you might need at a reasonable cost. Be sure to reserve the items you'll need a couple of weeks in advance.
