I'm still not sure how it is I absolutely had to have this handmade bead pendant, because the colors are not those to which I am usually attracted. In fact, I just don't buy a lot of red anything, and tend to steer away from aventurine in beads, though I don't know why.
When I purchase beads, I do try to keep to my usual color range, since I figure that I'll be more likely to have beads to match if I do that, though I've given up on that, since I'm finding more accent beads in interesting colors already in with my other beads.
What makes this find even more fun, is that I not only found the pendant, but while looking at the excellent collection of furnace glass beads by Mingo and Asho, I discovered this set of matching lampwork spacer beads. I asked, and nope, the spacer beads and the pendant were not created at the same time and were not made to go together. It was a fluke, and a wonderful one, as they really are perfect. Oh, and I know this to be true, because both Mongo and Asho were at the booth while I was shopping, and they both confirmed this for me.
For some reason, I went right to my collection of Charlotte beads rather than to any other type of bead. Lo and behold - there were the four exact Charlotte bead colors, all four hanks having been purchased from the fine folks at Wild Things Beads, one of my favorite Charlotte bead sellers. And they really are perfect for this pendant and beads, aren't they?
