Whenever I receive a new focal bead, the first thing I do is start going through my stash of beads; seed beads lampwork spacer beads, firepolish beads, Swarovski cyrstal beads, any and all beads, searching for the perfect accent beads, spacer beads, connector beads and whatever other beads I'll need to connect it all together into a beautiful finished piece of beadwork.
To me, finding the right accent beads for a fabulous new focal bead is similar to the travel part of a vacation; if done right, getting there is half the fun.
I went on a buying spree a while back, gathering lampwork spacer beads with no real project in mind. I just loved the bead colors and wanted to stock up, especially on the rare and "odd lot" colors. Shortly after, I received some divine handmade ceramic beads from Mary Harding, and had a sudden epiphany: I collected those lampwork spacer beads to work with these gorgeous new ceramic beads. They were just made for each other.
