Bead to the Beat - Best Bead Organizing and Beading Tunes

My Beadwork Beat Library for Cleaning and Organizing Beads

I am a life long music lover, appreciating many genre, loving to hear live recordings, scratchy old 78's, bootleg tapes, albums when I can, which is not often but will be once I get my hands on a USB Turntable, one of those new turntables that plug them into your computer system. You listen on your headphones or computer speakers and can make CDs of the albums.

Music is as personal as beading styles, if not more so. There are tunes we adore and cherish, and those that set our teeth on edge. Occasionally, my favorites make my husband crazy, as his do me. We may be compatible enough to stay married, but that doesn't mean we love all of the same music.

Of course this means that my music choices on these lists may leave you wondering if I've lost my mind, if my only taste is in my mouth, and that I possess no ability to discern musical talent. If you showed me your list, chances are, I would love some, loathe others; music is like that.

For a burst of energy when I have to get tidy, organize, rearrange, or do other non-creative work around the studio, these albums keep me happy and filled with that sometimes-elusive "wild side" energy:

  • The B-52'sThe B-52's Their first album filled with their madly fun, inspiring and eclectic sound style.
  • The Ramones Greatest Hits The studio versions of all the hits. Play loud.
  • The Go-Go's Beauty and the Beat This album is all girly, all fun, all perky and all energy.
  • Sparks Angst in my Pants Hilarious, creative and just plain fun music and lyrics from the Mael Brothers at their mid-80's finest.
  • Oingo Boingo Boingo Alive: Celebration of a Decade 79-88 An excellent collection of the best of Boingo from their wildest days.
  • [/ul Any of these is enough to boost me right into that cleaning and tidying groove; getting those beads put away and finding my desktop. I actually enjoy doing these types of non-beading type chores, but am easily distracted. I love unpacking and organizing new beads, re-organizing the beads I have on hand, going through my "Beading Projects In Progress" to decide what to continue and what to take apart, or even just doing a big of general cleaning and dusting.

Though to be honest, most of the time I really just want to play! And even though unpacking, re-tubing into small tubes, bagging, cleaning, and reorganizing are all fun, I'm usually interested in doing one thing when I should be doing another. It helps me focus if I use music as my timer instead of a clock or alarm or timer. I can say to myself "I'll re-tube these 11/0 beads while I listen to this album, then I can work on a project, or I'll spend an album's worth of time beading, then I'll get to work organizing.
