New Years day is wonderful time to embark on lots of new things. Many people make resolutions - promises to themselves to eat better, get more exercise, quit bad habits, etc. But how many of us make resolutions about our beading? What better way is there to imprint the good habits of being creative, and of enjoying time with our beads and creating something with them? I've heard from beaders who began doing this a few years ago when I first talked about it, who have told me that it helped them find time to do a little something creative almost every day - not to wait for the right time, but to make the time. And what could be a better resolution than that?
Now is a great time to decide what you'd like to make as your New Year's beading project. I think that starting a large project, an intricate item, a wall hanging or something significant, such as a baby announcement for a new child or grandchild, a wedding announcement done in beads for a new couple, a sampler done in beads, or even a beaded plaque with a quote that means something important to you or to someone you love.
The important thing to remember is, that you don't have to have each and every item you'll need to complete the project in your hands on New Year's day. Also, keep in mind, this does not have to take all day New year's day, either - just set aside an hour or so to get the project started.
