Beadwork Glossary Definition:

With beaded netting, link beads (also called "join beads") are the beads that connect each row or column of beadwork to the next. The thread passes through a link bead in one direction first, and then passes back through the same bead when you stitch the next row or column. Link beads can be single beads or groups of beads.

The chart above shows the thread path through link beads in horizontal and vertical netting. Notice that the thread runs horizontally in horizontal netting and vertically in vertical netting.
