A variety of beading stitches are incorporated into the elegant designs in this lovely book, [Time for Beads by Julie Jackson.
This book is an excellent primer for the beadwork beginner. Beginning with instructions for a very simple lariat necklace, the book moves on to much more sophisticated pieces requiring more advanced beading skill levels. The beading projects range from the above simple necklace to beaded amulet bags, freeform Peyote beading, tiny beaded baskets and a beaded rope chain using the Honeycomb Stitch.
The instructions in Time for Beads are thorough, precise and easy to follow. The diagrams are well drawn and easy to follow and the photos are wonderfully professional.
Julie Jackson is a New Zealand bead with an easy and charming writing style and her book makes me long to take a class with her. It is liberally seasoned throughout with excellent beading tips and hints. Ideas for beaded fringe, beadwork embellishment and other beading extras are discussed as well. This book will bring any beader many hours of beading and reading pleasure.
