Learn How to Do Flat Odd Count Peyote Stitch - Before You Get Started
If you are new to beadwork or to flat odd count peyote stitch, take a look at some of these tips for learning a new beading stitch.

If you are new to beading in general, you will want to make sure that you have a comfortable work space set up, and that you have a few basic tools and materials handy before you start.

In general, when you are learning a new beadweaving stitch, using a larger size seed bead - like a size 8 or even a size 6 - will make it easier for you to see what you are doing. Consider using a size 8 Delica bead, which has the uniform cylindrical shape of a smaller size 11 Delica bead, but is much larger an easier to see.

You might also want to consider using a heavier weight thread and a larger needle. Being able to better handle your materials will make for easier stitching when you are learning a new beadweaving stitch.
