21. Adding the Center Loop

When you get to the center of the necklace, pick up 11 firepolished bicones, alternating each one with a seed bead. Pass needle up through the next hole in the Tila bead and continue to add fringes up the other side of the necklace.

For this necklace, I decided to use graduated colors of firepolished beads, working in groups of five beads. You can use any combination of colors that you would like for these fringes.

When you have added all the fringes, weave the thread into the beadwork, tie a knot, weave in a bit more, and trim the thread close to the beadwork.

22. Adding the Edging to the Inside of the Necklace

Jennifer VanBenschoten
Add a new thread so that you are exiting from the inside of the top Tila bead in Row 20.

Pick up 6 seed beads and pass needle down through the next two Tila beads.

23. Inside Edging - Next Step

Jennifer VanBenschoten
Stitch over through the adjacent hole in the Tila bead. Pick up 5 seed beads and stitch down through the 6th bead from the previous step.

Stitch down through the next two Tila beads, into the adjacent bead hole, and then up, exiting from the first seed bead you picked up in this step.

24. Add Edging to Both Sides of the Necklace

Jennifer VanBenschoten
Continue to add edging until you have worked down to the bottom of the inside edge.

Add a new thread and add edging to the other side of the necklace.

To add the edging along the center of the necklace, stitch through the beadwork until you are exiting from the last seed bead of the side edging.

Pick up 2 seed beads and pass down through the next hole in the Tila bead of the base row.

Pass up through the next Tila bead hole and pick up 2 seed beads. Pass down through the last seed bead of the first picot, through the Tila bead, and up through the first seed bead added for the second picot.

Continue to work a series of picots across the base row.

For the last picot, you will only need to add one seed bead to create the picot.

25. Finishing the Necklace

Jennifer VanBenschoten
To finish the necklace, weave all the ends in, knotting as you go. Weave in a bit more thread after you tie the last knot, then trim the thread close to the beadwork.

You can substitute Swarovski crystals or 4mm gemstone beads for the firepolished beads in this necklace to give several different looks.
