These casual beaded earrings feature flat right-angle weave tops and staggered loop-fringe bottoms.
To make a coordinating bracelet, see Right-Angle Weave Bracelet Pattern - Golden Pink.
1. Gather Your Beads and Supplies
Use the following materials to make one pair of earrings:
- .75 grams of size 11/0 Delica cylinder beads in blush-lined crystal AB, DB-0069 (A)
- 8 (beads, not grams) 3mm Miyuki cube beads in taupe-lined crystal, SB3-0329 (B)
- .5 grams of size 14/0 Miyuki round seed beads in gold luster sage, 14-0627 (C)
- 8 (beads, not grams) size 6/0 Miyuki round seed beads in gold-lined pink beige, 6-0579 (D)
- 8 (beads, not grams) size 11/0 Delica cylinder beads in silver-lined orange (E)
- Size D, or equivalent, beading thread of your choice (such as Nymo, Wildfire or FireLine)
- Size 12 beading needle
- Scissors or thread cutter
- Ear wires of your choice (the example uses gold-filled French hooks)
- Chain nose pliers (for attaching the ear wires)
2. Use Right-Angle Weave to Stitch the Earring Tops
Use right-angle weave to stitch the pattern shown on the left for the earring tops. (Please click on the image for a larger view.) The suggested thread path for single-needle right-angle weave is shown. Begin at the bottom of the pattern, and leave a two-foot long thread tail to use later for the fringe.
3. Stitch the Top Loop
This chart shows the suggested thread path for stitching each top loop. First, string 7C for the top loop itself, then string 2C to fill the gap created by the curving beadwork. (For clarity, the curve in the beadwork is not shown in the chart; click on the photo in Step 1 for a better view of the actual beadwork.)
Weave-in to end this thread.
4. Add the Beaded Fringe
Use the long thread tail at the bottom of the right-angle weave beadwork to add the looped fringe. Pick up the following beads for each of the three loops, respectively:
- 4A, 1C, 9A, 1C, 9A, 1C, 9A, 1C, 4A
- 4A, 1C, 9A, 1C, 9A, 1C, 9A, 1C, 9A, 1C, 4A
- 4A, 1C, 9A, 1C, 9A, 1C, 9A, 1C, 4A
The chart on the left shows where the needle should exit and re-enter the bottom row of beadwork to begin and complete each fringe loop. To ensure proper drape, use gentle (not tight) thread tension for the fringe.
Weave-in to end the thread. Stitch a matching earring and use chain nose pliers to attach your choice of earring findings.
