There are lots of reasons to love beaded earrings, but I think my favorite is just how easy it is to come up with a design idea for a pair of earrings. If you are interested in learning how to design your own beaded jewelry, beaded earrings are a great way to get started. Beaded earrings don't usually take a lot of time or materials to make, and they can be as simple as stringing some beads on a head pin! Check out these ways to get started with design ideas for how to make your own beaded earrings.
1. Easy Wire Work
As much as I don’t like wire work, probably the easiest way to make a pair of beaded earrings is to get a couple of head pins and some accent beads. String the beads onto the head pins and make either a simple loop or wrapped loop at the top. Add an earring finding, and you’re done! You can make an entire weekly wardrobe of beaded earrings in a night with this easy technique.
2. Peyote Stitch or Brick Stitch Diamond
Making a basic peyote stitch or brick stitch diamond or triangle gives you a great base for adding a lot (or a little) of beaded fringe to make earrings. Make your triangles or diamonds with 2 or 3 drop peyote stitch or brick stitch to add some length for dangles, and a single drop on the bottom will add a little bit of movement to your beaded earrings.
3. Beaded Fringe
Beaded fringe can be used all by itself to make a pair of beautiful beaded earrings. Try by stringing 10 or 15 seed beads onto a piece of beading thread, and then adding branch, leaf or stick fringe. Combine different types of fringe and throw in some tiny accent beads like crystals, fire polished beads, or tiny gemstone chips to make unique beaded earrings. And don’t worry if they’re both not exactly alike – slight variations in each earring will make them more visually interesting!
4. Peyote Stitch Circles
This is probably one of my favorite components to make beaded earrings. Stitch up a couple of peyote stitch circles like the one used in this beaded toggle clasp tutorial and then add strands of beads or a single drop. They work up fast, are incredibly lightweight, and only use a few grams of cylinder beads.
5. Beaded Beads
A simple tube bead made from a piece of peyote stitch that has been zipped together is just about the easiest beaded earring you can make. Add some accent beads like Swarovski crystals or gemstone beads to bring out the colors of the beaded beads. After you’ve made your beaded beads, string them on a head pin and make either a wrapped loop or simple loop at the top and add your earring finding. Beaded beads are a great way to make your own unique beaded earrings.
