The focal piece in this lovely necklace by Marilyn (Lolly) Outler is a mottled variscite sea sediment gemstone cabochon. The bezel is peyote stitch embellished with round 4mm gemstone beads and size 8/0 seed beads. They create a substantial frame that is still mild enough in color not to detract from the beautiful stone. A portion of the chain is spiral stitch and the rest is strung beads. The piece is finished off with a small, heart shaped gold toggle.
Lolly's main piece of advice when working with beads of similar hues is to make sure you have very good lighting. It can be challenging to distinguish the different colors of beads (especially when your eyes start to get tired).
