Lisa has released a series of animal patterns that are just fantastic! Kits available include Peacock, Black Panther, Red Tiger (limited) White Tiger, Leopard and Lion. I'm working on the White Tiger, and let me say, it is just incredible! I am not a big Peyote Stitch person, but I did enjoy doing this project, and am beginning to like Peyote all the more because of projects like these.
. The kit includes plenty of beads for both the bag and the trim, as well as very clear, detailed instruction for making the bag. Lisa gives two different types of bottom finishes; a traditional fringe bottom, and an optional woven bottom. The back of the bag is graphed with the Kanji symbol for Tiger, and was designed by Inkchick, the San Diego bead designer.
Attention to detail is what sets this kit apart. The bag is edged in a Picot stitch, using size 14/0 seed beads. This softens and finishes the edge and, to me, gives it a slightly "furry" feel, to go with the tiger coat!
Both kits and patterns are available, patterns starting at $12.00 and kits at $58.00. The kits contain all the beads you will need complete the bag. You supply the needles, wax, thread, clasp (optional) and time!
But, you better grab one quick, especially if you are a tiger lover, like me! The Red Tiger is in limited supply, and when the current stock runs out, it will no longer be available. Remember, kits make a wonderful gift for a new beader, or someone who is just starting out with either delicas or Peyote Stitch.
