This book made me look around my home for more fans and curtains than I have, and even made me wish for my own camel!
All aspects of tassels are covered, including hard tassels, tassel skirts, heads, fringes and necks. Valerie teaches us how to make a tassel from different fiber types, and goes into much detail about the beads that can be used as embellishment. As far as tassel embellishment is concerned, Valerie leaves no stone unturned! Tassel cords, pulls and braids, which can be incorporated into a tassel skirt are all here, as well as many other techniques.
A basic pattern for creating a tassel from fiber (such as yarn) is given, and other details such as wood finishes, paint and bead preparation are covered. The instructions for the different forms of tassel embellishment are copious, clear and some of the best prepared and drawn I have seen. The written instructions are very easy to follow, and the test is sprinkled with many hints and tips. The details are myriad. This book is clearly well researched, well planned and professionally executed.
This is an excellent book, and beautiful to look at, too. Anything made using the instructions written in this volume are compelled to look fantastic. And this is not just for advanced beaders, either. This is a book for all bead skill levels.
