Pat Savu
Spotlight Artist

Welcome! This week, it brings me great pleasure to bring you Pat Sav as our Spotlight Artist. Pat is something of a powerhouse, as far as I'm concerned! She is a chemist, a mother and a very talented beader, all in one delightful person! Here's more about Pat:

She became infected with the beading bug in 1993 after seeing some large rice pearls at the Mall of America BeadIt store and decided: How hard could this be to make a pearl necklace out of this? Necklaces are like potato chips: you can't make just one. By 1995 she had progressed to making split loom necklaces. In December of 1995 she made her first amulet pouches and had moved into off loom techniques like square stitch and brick stitch.

Pat has a long list of credits to her name, her square stitch bib necklace "Isis" was accepted to be exhibited at Embellishment 98. She has a continuing interest in Egyptian themed jewelry, and her amulet pouch "Ba Released" was featured in the Gallery of Beadwork's Spring 1999 issue. In a modern vein,"Titanic Lovers" was exhibited at Embellishment 99's Gleaming Treasures. "Dragon" and "Viewing the Northern Lights" were exhibited at the Bead and Button 2000 show. "Darth Maul" and "The Edge" (both Star Wars themed pieces in 3-D square stitch) were exhibited at Embellishment 2000.

Recently, Pat has become interested in Tarot cards. The images on them are so beautiful and cards are shaped just like amulet bags. In 2000 Pat designed and made an amulet bag for the Bead and Button auction to benefit Breast cancer Prevention and Research based on the Ace of Swords and the Nine of Swords.

Pat is hoping to design a beadwork pattern book and/or cd featuring patterns based on Tarot cards in the near future. The free Pattern for Paula is the Two of Pentacles. The Two of Pentacles stands for balance amid change. it can signify news concerning a journey, the use of a talent to succeed, or literary ability.

Be sure to visit Pat's Web site for many more wonderful beady things. Ancient Egyptian themed beadwork, Tarot inspired beadwork and patterns plus other modern patterns, often featuring lampwork beads, can be found there.

I want to thank Pat for being this week's Spotlight Artist, and for bringing us this wonderful Two of Pentacles Beaded Amulet Bag patterns, with a basic pattern, a realistic pattern, color key and even a symbols chart for those who prefer to work with symbols. Previous Spotlight Artist Features
