Our first item this week comes from Cynthia S. Wetzel AKA "LadyCynthy".

"Beyond the Rim," an homage
to whatever is *out* there... even if it is nothing more or less than God,
whatever his/her incarnation!

| This collection of beaded dolls, beaded beads, a beaded Santa necklace and a beaded Spikey Fringe Necklace were submitted by Kim Price AKA "Toronto". |
 |
The first are my beaded dolls. I used to recieve Ornament magazine when I
was doing silver work and they often had articles on Joyce Scott. Her
pieces made me want to learn off loom beadwork. I took a peyote lesson with
a guest speaker at the local basketry network. I picked it up quickly and
went home and soon made these girls (Carmen and her sister :-)).

The next scan is of some beaded beads. Some of the beads are made using one
size of bead and decreasing, the others use various sizes to reduce(10,12
and 13's). I like using different sizes to reduce as I find it gives a
smoother ball. I also like to bead on top of a wooden bead rather than
hollow. I discovered the beaded balls using decreasing sizes of beads on
Bonnie Brooks website and have since used that method.

My loomed Santa necklace. It has tiny
toys, purchased from a dollhouse shop, in the fringe. The shape is taken
from a Victorian beaded necklace that I have. I was told it was victorian
when I bought it, but a couple of people at the bead society questioned
that. It is however a very comfortable design.

One of my favourites. I call it my 'spikey fringe'
choker. It's made by wrapping long sections of spikey fringe around a cord
base that has had bead dangles added already. Does that make sense? It's
so soft to wear. It has a good weight but it is very comfortable.

| These two pieces are by Sue Phillips AKA "Orchid". |

My first
amulet purse (also 1st twisted fringe, 1st stick fringe, & 1st to glue leather
on back & sew to a beaded piece. The story is that my oldest friend sent me
some buttons from wal-mart & told me to make some jewelry, her name is Billie,
& so I named the piece "Billie-button". The button is the large flower on the
amulet purse. Czech size 11 beads in taupe, dusty rose, turq/green, & lit
blue matte. The entire purse is done in 3 drop brick, & I did not use a
pattern on any part of it, so if anyone else has designed the strap or
anything --- we both designed it, for I did not use a pattern.

The 2nd image is of my ghost earrings, pattern is in Jeanette Shanigan's
"Beaded Holiday Earrings" book. Czechsize 11, transparent white beads (gave
it that added "ghostly appearance I was after, & occasional "shimmer".
