Leafy Vine Fringe Bead Pattern
by Barbara L. Grainger, Spotlight Artist

Leafy Vine Fringe (Aka Weeping Willow Fringe) Bead Pattern
Copyright 1999 - Barb Grainger

Materials:
Size 11 beads in two colors. One for vine, one for leaves.
Size 10 - 12 needle
Silamide or nymo thread.

Preparation:

Attach a stop bead to about a yard of thread.
How to add stop bead: String a bead that is a different color than the ones you are going to use for your Leafy Vine Fringe,  leaving a six inch tail to use later. Hold the bead in the thumb and forefinger of your non-working hand. With the thread tail hanging downward, pass the needle back UP through the bead again being careful not to split the thread inside.

Step 1.
With vine colored beads, string an equal number of beads the desired length of fringe, plus 6 leaf colored beads. Working back UP the vine heading towards the knot bead, pass needle back through the next-to-last leaf bead just strung.

Step 2.
Still heading towards the knot bead, string 3 leaf colored beads and pass needle through the first leaf colored bead and two of the vine beads.

Step 3.
String two vine colored beads and 6 leaf colored beads. Pull them down to the vine. Working back toward the vine,  pass needle back through the next to last leaf bead added.

Step 4.
String 3 leaf beads and pass back through the first leaf bead added,  the two branch beads and two of the vine beads.

Step 5.
Continue steps 3 and 4 until you only have two seed beads left on the vine. Pass needle through the two remaining beads. Remove the stop bead. Your leafy fringe is now finished and ready to attach to your project.

Enjoy!
