Paula's Beaded Blog Doll
A Bead Art Work in Progress

This is the little muslin doll I've chosen to bead as a Bead Art Beaded Doll work in progress for the Beadwork Blog.

As you can see, I have not started adding beads yet (not even a face) but have stitched down the head in order to make it a bit less "puffy", so that the face bead I have im mind will lie flat. This little doll is only 3" tall and will make a cute lapel pin when finished. I purchased it from this direct link at Bead-Patterns.com and last time I checked, Rita still had about 35 of them in stock.

I have not chosen any of the beads that will go into this project, nor have I decided on whether she (I have determined this ti is, indeed, a she) will wear a dress or a skirt or pant or what. I have, however, decided on a name for the doll project. She will be titled Hair Like A Wild Woman. While I have no idea what her hair will look like, this is the concept that came to me when I first decided to work up an Art Doll. It is what my mother would say to me as I flew out the door in the summertime with my hair flying in all directions. "Wait a minute", she'd call, "don't go running off like that, with hair like a wild woman", as she laughed at my utter lack of patience with anything that would keep me from the outdoors in summer!

I will post each new step of my Bead Doll on the Beadwork Blog and let you know in the weekly Newsletter how I'm doing. If you are working on an Art Doll and would like me to post pictures of your work in progress, please drop me a note to beadwork.guide@about.com. I'd be happy to include it in the Beadwork Blog!
