The lessons start out big & easy - with all the tools and thread you'll need to learn. A fully illustrated book is included. You will start out by learning basic crochet (chain stitch) and using a thread slightly larger than a size 10 crochet thread. The you'll use a medium thread with 6/0 beads, then an even thinner thread and 8/0 seed beads. You progress through the "steps down" to thinner thread, beads and smaller hooks at your own pace and begin learning how to incorporate the beads into the crochet.

The lessons are terrific - I worked with the larger yarn for a couple of weeks before "graduating" the thinner yarn and beads. It was an easy transition to the smaller beads and tinier hook. Soon, I'll be ready to start and complete the project - which is also included with the purchase of the Workshop kit!
