Designs for Beading on a
Loom by Don Pierce
I am a confessed loom addict. I am in heaven with this lovely book that
combines technique, design and lots of eye candy. Don does it all, and
it is all awesome.
Starting with a discussion of four critical elements
to good design; color, texture shape and embellishment, Don
encourages the beader to employ the use of these in the designs. As Don
states "think of these designs as jumping off points" and goes
on to explain how this can be done.
Starting off simple, we learn the basics of a split
loom necklace and construction thereof. We move on to my
favorite, the Folded Pendant and graduate to Faces, Beads in Space (fun)
French Woven Chains and many other design elements.
Written in Don's delightful and engaging manner, the
reader is both charmed and educated, then sent on a loom journey of
their own. This is much more than a basic pattern book - it is an
invitation to open up and expand on one's creativity. Sprinkled throughout
with some luscious "eye candy", this book is a perfect volume
for the first-time loom weaver, and the seasoned
"loomatic". I highly recommend this book.
