Ten Reasons to Support Your Local Bead Society
I love to meet and hang out with beaders! I have learned more just hanging around bead people than I would ever have thought possible. When I attend a meeting of my LBS (Local Bead Society) I always come away with far more information that I would have expected. I also make lots of new friends and see loads of great beadwork!
If you don't have an LBS in your area, start one! It's as easy or as complicated as you want to make it! Get together with a few other beaders and give your group a name. If you choose to have officers, a treasury and other such, check out The Bead Site for great information on starting and sustaining a Bead Society.
If you are homebound and unable to travel, start an on-line bead group, or join one of the many beady e-mail groups out there! There are many opportunities for beady community; there are two chats each week here on the beadwork site. Come visit us on Monday at 6:00pm PST and Saturdays at 9:00am PST. And, of course, there is a HUGE community of beaders on the Beadwork Forum. A great group and always informative and fun!
