Bead Art for Art's Sake Challenge

Winners and Gallery of Entries

Here are the winners of the "Bead Art for Art's Sake Challenge!

As you may recall, this Challenge asked entrants were asked to create "something
unwearable, something that exists for no other reason than it makes you happy." There were some incredible entries, and the judging was difficult.  However, after much analysis, the winning prize went to the following piece by Claire M. Crouchley:

Claire wrote: "This began with a piece of root that I bought from a craft shop because I loved its shape. It sat on my desk staring at me until I finally began to bring it to life. I've used flat, tubular, round, and freeform peyote, brick stitch, wire work, and any technique that came to hand to create what I see in the woods where I grew up, including a toadstool, ferns, mushrooms, moss, grape hyacinths, a wood violet, ants, snails, butterflies, and a spider on his web. All beadwork was made with Japanese and Czech seed beads in a variety of sizes, using my own designs."

Second place went to Charlene Frances for her "Joy of Spring" entry:
