Here are the winners of the "Bead Art for Art's Sake Challenge!
As you may recall, this
Challenge asked entrants were asked to create "something
unwearable, something that exists for no other reason than it makes you
happy." There were some incredible entries, and the judging was difficult.
However, after much analysis, the winning prize went to the following piece by
Claire M. Crouchley:

Claire wrote: "This began with a piece of root that I bought from a craft
shop because I loved its shape. It sat on my desk staring at me until I finally
began to bring it to life. I've used flat, tubular, round, and freeform peyote,
brick stitch, wire work, and any technique that came to hand to create what I
see in the woods where I grew up, including a toadstool, ferns, mushrooms,
moss, grape hyacinths, a wood violet, ants, snails, butterflies, and a spider
on his web. All beadwork was made with Japanese and Czech seed beads in a
variety of sizes, using my own designs."
