| Ethics and Copyright in Beadwork | |
| An article by former Guide Emily Hackbarth | |
There as been a lot of discussion and dissension about copyrights and beadwork ethics lately. I think this might be a good time to refresh ourselves on what is right and wrong in these areas of our work.
Many beaders do this as a fun hobby, some to make great jewelry for themselves and for gifts, and some people earn their living by it. Each person, no matter how they use their time and talents, deserves respect. Not only does each of us deserve it, by in many cases we are legally entitled to it.
As for all of the ins and outs of copyright, I will not go into great detail here, as there are many sites with even better information than I may be able to provide. However, I would like to present an article from the Beadwork Archives, written by former Guide Emily Hackbarth, on Copyright And Ethics in Beadwork. It is a timely and very extensively researched piece, and I hope you find information you can use. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to write to me at Beadwork.Guide@about.com. Have a great week!
