Beaded Jewelry using Peyote Stitch Beads

Making beaded jewelry with a Peyote stitch bead made from beads and thread is just about as cool as it gets. To make them with the tutorial from Red Ventling makes these bead babies even more fun! We've learned how to make Bitty Beaded Beads using Delicas and Charlottes with Peyote stitch. Now, here are some ideas for using those tiny gems.

First, you can always string them on to a piece of Soft Flex or Tiger tail and make a basic bracelet or necklace, using accent beads of the same color family.

Another thing you can do is make a ladder bracelet with them. Just start with pieces of Soft Flex attached to a two-strand clasp, and add accent beads, then cross the wires through the Bitty bead, to make a ladder.

Something else you can do is put them onto a headpin and make dangles. Shown here are some earring made with this method. You could always make a slightly shorter dangle and attach them to some chain for a graceful necklace or bracelet. Of course, they could also be strung on to Soft Flex or any other kind of stringing wire.

Then, there is one of my favorite ways of using bitty beads. Make a big bead from Bitties! Simply follow the directions for Bitty Beads, using already made Bitty Beads in place of the delicas! You will need to make it 7 rows long before you lace it up, to make up for the extra bulk of the bitty beads. It can also be 3 rather than 4 beads wide, which will make a more compact bead. Make several and use them in a necklace or make one as a centerpiece and add single bitties to a necklace, for a great look.

If you come up with some other cool ways to use Bitty Beads, let me know. Send a picture to me at Beadwork.Guide @About.com and I'll put them up in the new Gallery!
