How To Make a Basic Bead Kit

From , former About.com Guide

Bead kits make great gifts for both new beaders and long-timers. Here's how to put one together.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: 1 hour

Here's How:

  1. Determine the colors for the kit and what the finished item will be.
  2. Make a list of all non-bead items to be included. Don't forget thread, tools, wire and findings.
  3. Bag the beads into individual containers and label each as to bead type.
  4. Bag up the findings, tools, thread, and other items. Add an additional length of thread or wire, just in case.
  5. Write your instructions. Be clear and concise. Use short sentences and be sure to number each step of the process.
  6. If you plan to sell kits, this would be a good time to have someone test the kit for you. Have them comment on clarity of instructions, quantity of beads, etc.
  7. Package your kits in an attractive bag or box. You can even add in a small tray or velvet cloth.

Tips:

  1. A necklace/bracelet combo is a great project for a beginner.
  2. Be sure the instructions are very clear. Don't leave anything out, no matter how small itr may seem to you. Give tips and hints for the project.
  3. Be sure to add a nice picture of the finished project.
  4. Graphics are great, as are step-by-step photos. Be sure to include them for each step involved.
  5. Add any necessary tools such as scissors, wax, conditioner etc. if you are giving this as a gift - it'll help someone get started!
