Bead kits make great gifts for both new beaders and long-timers. Here's how to put one together.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: 1 hour
Here's How:
- Determine the colors for the kit and what the finished item will be.
- Make a list of all non-bead items to be included. Don't forget thread, tools, wire and findings.
- Bag the beads into individual containers and label each as to bead type.
- Bag up the findings, tools, thread, and other items. Add an additional length of thread or wire, just in case.
- Write your instructions. Be clear and concise. Use short sentences and be sure to number each step of the process.
- If you plan to sell kits, this would be a good time to have someone test the kit for you. Have them comment on clarity of instructions, quantity of beads, etc.
- Package your kits in an attractive bag or box. You can even add in a small tray or velvet cloth.
Tips:
- A necklace/bracelet combo is a great project for a beginner.
- Be sure the instructions are very clear. Don't leave anything out, no matter how small itr may seem to you. Give tips and hints for the project.
- Be sure to add a nice picture of the finished project.
- Graphics are great, as are step-by-step photos. Be sure to include them for each step involved.
- Add any necessary tools such as scissors, wax, conditioner etc. if you are giving this as a gift - it'll help someone get started!
