Corina Tetinger
Passing the Flame is an incredible journey into the art of Lampwork Bead Making. Corina gives us insight to her knowledge of glass, flames, beads and bead making using the ages-old process of melting glass with a torch.
Passing the Flame may be the most important book on lampwork bead making of our time. Corina is a talented artist and an incredible writer and teacher. This book is amazing - it is a must have for any glass, glass bead or lampwork bead lover.

Have you ever seen a Corina Bead? If you have, then you understand why this groundbreaking book is the gold (or maybe I should say Rubino Glass) standard of bead making instruction. Even if you never intend to light a torch but do love lampwork, this book is a valuable resource.

With a charming writing style and the clearest instructions I've ever seen, Corina teaches any who wish to learn all of her secrets for creating art quality beads using a torch and mandrel. No "secret glass combinations" no "special hidden tricks" - it's all there for the reader to glean.

From the first chapter through the last, there are tricks, hints, ideas, bead making "secrets" revealed, mandrel holding tips, torch adjustments with photographs, bench arrangements ideas and a million other helpful ideas. Corina has covered it all.
This book is on par with a one-on-one week (or two) with a master bead maker, and, best of all, you can flip it open any time and get the information you need, right then and there.

Then there is the photography; a reason in itself to own this book. If you love handmade glass beads, this is a book worth the investment. Pictures of all steps involved in lampworking, gorgeous finished beads, examples of a huge variety of bead shapes, treatments and finishes are covered. There is a terrific education between these covers, so a bead buyer will have a good understanding of what makes a bead valuable and what goes into the bead construction.

And, of course, there is the incomparable Corina herself. She has a light and delightful presence on the page that instantly puts one at ease and imparts the feeling of "I can do this, too" to her readers. Never cloying, never oblique, Corina's tutorials, tips and general information is clear and easy to read. She presents the material in an uncomplicated manner, even when chemistry or complex technique are discussed.

Any serious bead maker or collector should have a copy of this groundbreaking book.
