Weekend Project: Bead an Antique Beaded Button Bracelet
Thursday May 25, 2006
I've been holding on to these antique buttons I inherited from my mother for ages now, not sure what I wanted to do with them. One day, as I was tidying up my beading areas, I had some of these out and came across these cream colored seed beads. Since the buttons had yellowed a bit with age, every time I tried to match them with a white or even mother of pearl accent, they didn't work. But coupled with the creamy shade of the seed beads and the nibblet beads, they were perfect.
I also like the fun feel of this bracelet when I wear it; sort of like an old-fashioned charm bracelet, only not as heavy. And it makes a sort of dry rattling sound, too, that makes me think of old things; like the sounds you might hear in an attic or while going through the contents of an old trunk - a gentle whisper of times long past.
If you've ever given a new life to old things, I think you'll understand. And whether you've re-purposed an old item or not, I think you'll like this Antique Beaded Button Bracelet. Something about it just says "c'mon, come out and play."

Dear Paula, what an absolutely gorgeous bracelet did you make with the antique beads. Very inspirational as really any button mixed with the right bead can turnout to be something as delicious as your bracelet. Thanks for that!

I love all your patterns and they are a great help.BUT please will you make one page for printing off. As a pensioner I cannot afford to print reams of repeated extras that have to be thrown away, thanks
If you look at the upper right hand area on the first page of most of the patterns, you’ll see a section that says “print this pattern” that will give you a “print friendly” page. Here’s the link for this pattern:
