Now that we've covered the absolute basics of loomwork -- like the types of beading looms and their parts -- it's finally time to begin beading. Start out simple by weaving a basic bracelet band using 4mm fire polished beads. Then grab some ribbon ends and learn how to finish your bracelet using the selvage method.

And I'm still looking for tips and advice from you expert beaders. Be sure to take a minute to share your experiences with beginners.

After the glue dries on the selvedge do you squeeze the ribbon end together if it has serrated edges? Or just leave it open a little?
Thanks.

Hi Mary,

Definitely do not squeeze it down while it’s on the selvage, because those teeth might cut your threads. If you’re clamp ends are serrated (like mine) you always need to narrow them down before putting them on your beadwork.

Just to clarify about the opening: I do leave them open a little, and just rely on the E6000 to hold them on.

Hope that helps! :)
