The Beautiful Patterns of Cross Stitch & Bead Weaving

By , About.com Guide   January 7, 2012

Jill Oxton's Cross Stitch & Bead Weaving publications have been going strong since 1990 -- and still, somehow, I only recently discovered them. That's probably because I'm in the U.S. and Jill Oxton Publications is headquartered in Australia. But still, no excuses. It has definitely been my loss.

Until now! What a great discovery! I love the big, clear pattern charts and illustrations, and the focus on art and decor, in addition to jewelry making.

The only thing you need to get used to with these booklets is that they're designed for either cross stitch or beadweaving (or both). The pattern charts aren't colored; instead they have symbols within cells, and a color key that indicates which color of beads to use.

Do you own any issues of Cross Stitch & Bead Weaving? Please take a minute to share your own review. I'd love to hear about your experience with them.
