Happy Hanukkah Beading Patterns

From Jennifer VanBenschoten, About.com GuideNovember 22, 2010

Follow me on:

I can remember celebrating Hanukkah with my parents when I was a kid - it meant little gifts wrapped in tin foil by our dinner plates, homemade potato latkes, and our one cat had his annual tradition of sticking his face into the candles and setting his whiskers on fire.

Star of David Peyote Cuff

So, to celebrate Hanukkah and bring back those fond memories for me, I started last week by designing some new Hanukkah beading patterns for the site. The first one was this Star of David peyote stitch cuff bracelet. I chose traditional colors of royal blue, gold, and a sparkling gilt-lined white for the colors.

And then, inspired by some of the more modern Judaica that I've seen, I designed a colorful dreidel peyote cuff bracelet with a small matching peyote stitch pendant.

And last but not least, I designed a peyote stitch menorah pendant. This one is safe - even if your cat sticks his whiskers in this one, there's no chance that he'll catch fire! All it needs is a beaded strap and some fringe to make a beautiful addition to your holiday outfit.

I've been busy designing other projects for this week, too - there's a new Christmas tree pendant that uses brick stitch to make a three-dimensional holiday pendant that you can "decorate" with your favorite beads, and a new beaded ring inspired by Princess Diana's engagement ring and Prince William's engagement to Kate Middleton. (You didn't think I could resist designing my own sapphire and diamond ring, did you?)

Happy beading!

Where is the 3-D Christmas Tree Pendant? I can’t find a link anywhere, nor does it come up in a search. (I can’t speak for the new ring design, as I don’t “do” rings. ;)

Thanks for any help,
Allie

Those patterns are coming soon! Not quite ready yet, but they’ll be live on the site sometime on December 1st!
